2005-10-25 Dissapointed Mr Clark!

I have been a huge admirer of Larry Clark's work both Film and Photography for many years, so much so I decided to write my graduate thesis on the guy!In my quest for as many resources on him as possible I invested in this book, I waited for it in eager anticipation and when It arrived I was really let down. This book is basically a collection of photographs he has taken from a talk show featuring teenagers. He has taken a series of near identical photos of a TV screen.Very repetitive.There are around 6 words in the book. To be honest I think this book is a bit pretentious, It is a coffee table book, the idea is interesting if you think about it hard enough but I think its a money making attempt only.The photos are uninspiring and I do think its a book that tries to be ambiguous and impressionistic but in a way I think hes having a laugh to see how many people will buy into this charade and over-analyse the meaning behind the photographs!In fairness it does look pretty on the shelf with its grand looking black, slick cover but dont open this book with the illusion of learning more about Larry and seeing some groundbreaking stuff!If thats what you are loking for i reccommend you check out 'Tulsa', amazing photographs that speak so many words.....
